expressing camera exposures in terms of ICAS

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:33 by Administrator

while preparing a title of the new waves deskart image (in the arts showcase area of this web site), i considered how a camera exposure measure of 0.000625 second could be expressed in terms of a day-decimal figure.

the range of exposure measures for photography can include a lot of decimals of the SI unit of time, and can also include many multiples of the unit of time.

thus, depending on the exposure specifications of a particular camera, and the types of exposures that a photographer might encounter while taking pictures, different decimal units might be used to express a measure of an exposure in terms of a whole number.

the choice of prefix or notation may also be determined by a particular comparison, or by a particular style guideline.

here are the calculations that i used to name the image:

  • 1 tikochron = 0.864 s (AAT ICAS, SI)
  • 0.000625 s = 0.00054 tik
  • 0.00054 tikochron = 0.0054 microcron = 5.4 nanochron = 5400 picochron
  • 0.000625 second = 0.625 millisecond = 625 microsecond = 625 000 nanosecond

tell a friend about the speed of XHT

Posted in updates at 3:09 by Administrator

although i haven’t clocked the download speed of the filetypeXHT pages used on the main areas of the enhanceability.com domain web site, the pages seem to upload more quickly. and because the XHT doesn’t need to load the legacy markup processing that would be required by pre-XHTML markup, the XHT pages can load more quickly.

that is part of the vision for the use of the XHTML 1.1 and CSS plus filetypeXHT documents used on this web site.

i am excited about the potential of XHTML 1.1 and CSS plus filetypeXHT to increase the speed by which content can be downloaded, in addition to the potential to reduce the load on network servers. in addition, web developers can also take advantage of the improved extensibility of XML (and also CSS) when coding documents for XHTML.

what do you think about the potential for increased speed and for reduced network load? are you already preparing web documents that are up to best practice speed? if not then why not? with some careful planning you can put best practices to work for both your users and you.
